The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) has clarified that it has not recalled or withdrawn anti-malarial medicines known as Duo-Cotecxin from the Kenyan market contrary to media reports.
In a press release signed by the Board Registrar, Dr Fred Siyoi, the National Medicines Regulatory Authority, clarified that it was only undertaking investigations to ascertain the suspected quality defect on a specific batch No. 160621 of the medicine.
“Meanwhile, the Board would like to clarify that particular batch is under quarantine pending conclusion of the investigations,” Dr Siyoi says in a press release dated March 22 2018.
At the same time, Dr Siyoi assured all stakeholders that they would be informed on the outcome of investigations once (they) are concluded.
